Andreas Poeder
Andreas Pöder (born April 6, 1967 in Meran ) is a South Tyrolean politician.
biography
Pöder grew up in Lana . After appropriate training, he worked professionally as an editor and presenter in radio . In 1995 he was elected to the party executive committee of the Union for South Tyrol (UfS). In the 1998 elections to the South Tyrolean state parliament and thus also to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol , he was able to achieve a mandate as the second member of the UfS with 5,877 preferential votes behind Eva Klotz . In the state elections in 2003 , Pöder was able to improve his result significantly, but remained behind Klotz with 13,274 preferential votes.
In the course of the smashing of the far-right South Tyrolean comradeship ring , Pöder hit the headlines in 2005 after the investigative authorities had been able to prove contacts between Pöder and the right-wing extremists. In a telephone conversation with the leader of the South Tyrolean Kameradschaftsring group , he called the former president of the Central Council of Jews, Michel Friedman, an “asshole” and a lecture by the right-wing radical group in Sterzing as “cool”. Pöder interpreted his contacts as an attempt to educate this group and ultimately could not be prosecuted.
In 2007, Pöder demanded adherence to a “Tyrolean leading culture”.
In 2007 there was a break between Pöder and Eva Klotz within the UfS. In the election of party chairman, Pöder prevailed against Klotz, who then left the party with her fellow campaigners and launched the South Tyrolean Freedom Movement . Although Pöder was able to prevail within the party, the conflict with Klotz and the affair surrounding the South Tyrolean Comradeship Ring slowed his political career. In the state elections in 2008 , the UfS only achieved a share of the vote of 2.3% and Pöder as the top candidate 3,981 preferential votes, which meant that the UfS was only able to hold one mandate in the state parliament. He also defended this mandate in the 2013 state elections when his party, which had renamed itself the BürgerUnion , entered into an electoral alliance with the small Ladins Dolomites party and the list Wir Südtiroler of the former member of the Freedom Party, Thomas Egger . In March 2014, Pöder terminated this alliance with the two partner parties.
In the 2018 state elections , the Citizens' Union only received 1.3% of the votes, which meant that Pöder missed a new place in the state parliament and regional council.
