Wir Staatskünstler is a cabaret series by Robert Palfrader , Florian Scheuba and Thomas Maurer , which was shown on ORF from 2011 to 2017. There are also stage performances.

It emerged against the background of the corruption cases that became known in Austria, including the BUWOG affair and the part-of-the-game affair . Current political events, mainly investigations into corruption cases, are discussed in each episode. The state artists are not afraid to visit affected politicians directly in their offices or to ask for documents in offices. The show is divided into several sections and categories. The part in which the three cabaret artists Laura Rudas and Niko Pelinka , played by Nicholas Ofczarek and Claudia Kottal , make a video call became particularly popular . In autumn 2012, the second season of the show was shown. In the summer of 2013, the election campaign for the National Council election in Austria in 2013 was intensively discussed , especially with Frank Stronach and the BZÖ .

In a broadcast in December 2013, the state artists also questioned Hungarian laws of the Orbán government , in particular those that criminalize the "mockery of the Crown of St. Stephen ". They put the test to the test, in the Hungarian embassy in Vienna and in the presence of the ambassador. This did not lead to any punishment, but to protests from Hungary, which culminated in a diplomatic protest note to the Foreign Ministry.

From 2012, the three cabaret artists were also on tour through Austria and Germany with Wir Staatskünstler with a stage program.

On December 30, 2014, the show Wir Staatskünstler. The 2014 annual report was broadcast on ORF.

Wir Staatskünstler - The annual balance sheet 2015 was broadcast on ORF on December 22, 2015 and shown as a stage performance in the Rabenhof Theater . There were four broadcasts in 2016: three seasonal balances in April, June and October and an annual balance in December. In 2017, a half-yearly balance sheet was shown in June and an annual balance sheet in December.

On Ash Wednesday 2019, the state artists could be seen with a 90-minute political-satirical program on Puls 4 . In October 2019 they celebrated with the program Wir Staatskünstler: Now all the more! Premiere at the Rabenhof Theater. On Ash Wednesday 2020 they could be seen on Puls 4 together with Michael Niavarani and Erwin Steinhauer .
