Wisła Puławy is a Polish football club from Puławy in the Lublin Voivodeship . The club currently plays in the 3rd division , the fourth highest Polish division.

history

Wisła Puławy was founded in April 1923. In addition to the football department, the club also has departments for athletics , swimming , weightlifting and, since 2003, through merger with other clubs, a handball department called Azoty-Puławy .

From 1983 to 1992 the football club played in the 3rd division , the best final result was a 3rd place in the 1984/85 season. After that, the club played in lower-class regional leagues for many years. In the 2008/09 season, the club made it to the 3rd division. In the same year the club won the regional cup competition and qualified for the Puchar Polski , in which he failed in the 2nd round at the reserve of Bytovia Bytów . Already after two seasons in the 3rd division Wisła Puławy rose again and thus played for the first time in the 2nd division . After several years in the 2nd division, the club ended the 2015/16 season in 4th place, which would have meant a game for promotion to the 1st division against MKS Kluczbork . With the withdrawal of Zawisza Bydgoszcz's license , the game was canceled and thus Wisła Puławy made it to the second highest Polish league for the first time. In its only season in the first division so far , the club missed relegation back to the second division. After another relegation in the following season, the club has been in the 3rd division since 2018.
