The Polish Football Cup ( Puchar Polski in Polish ) is an annual cup competition for Polish football teams. It is the second most important Polish football title after the championship in the Ekstraklasa , the highest Polish league, and is organized by the Polish Football Association PZPN . After an early prelude in 1925/26, the tournament has been taking place regularly since 1950/51.
mode
Every football team playing in the Polish league system is entitled to participate in the tournament. The teams in the lower divisions must qualify for participation in regional qualifying rounds. These teams play together with the first and second division in the main round.
Each round is played through a single game in the knockout system , with the lower-class team holding home rights. The final was decided by a return match between 2000 and 2006 and 2013. The Warsaw PGE Narodowy has hosted the final since 2014 . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the 2020 final was held in the Lublin Arena with only 3,500 spectators.
