Piotr Reiss (born June 20, 1972 in Poznan ) is a former Polish football player .
Club career
Piotr Reiss began his football career in his hometown near Lech Posen . However, he could not prevail in his first professional season (1990/91) and was loaned to the lower class club Kotwica Kórnik . Via the second division ( Amica Wronki ) he returned to Lech Poznań in 1994 and immediately became a permanent fixture and regular player. In 1998 he ventured abroad and moved to Hertha BSC in Germany . Here he was able to score a goal for Hertha in his debut in the Bundesliga , but it stayed that way. For the next season he was loaned to MSV Duisburg . Here he was able to assert himself to some extent (22 games / 5 goals) and returned to Hertha BSC. Here he disappointed again and moved to the second Bundesliga for SpVgg Greuther Fürth . He was no better here. In 2002 he returned to Lech Poznań in Poland, where he became an absolute icon of the club over the next few years. In 2004 he was able to secure both the Polish Cup and the Polish Supercup with Lech Poznań. In the 2006/07 season he was even the top scorer in the Ekstraklasa with 15 goals .
On February 2, 2009, Reiss was arrested on suspicion of corruption . Together with a former board member of the Polish first division club Lech Posen, the player was brought to the prosecutor's office in Wrocław . According to the television broadcaster TVN24 , it became known that Reiss was involved in the manipulation of games in the 2003/04 season. A day later he admitted the allegations and was suspended indefinitely by his association Lech Poznań. In July 2009 Piotr Reiss moved to the Polish second division side Warta Posen . At the end of August 2012 he returned to Lech Posen and signed a contract until the end of December 2012. After that, he will continue to be available to the club in a different role. In December 2012, however, his contract as a player was extended until the end of the 2012/13 season. At the end of May 2013 he announced his retirement at the end of the 2012/13 season.
National team
In the Polish national team , Piotr Reiss made his debut on November 10, 1998 in a friendly against Slovakia (3-1 win for Poland). He played four international matches and scored one goal (in a 3-1 win against Slovakia). He played his last international match on March 29, 2000 in a friendly against Hungary (0-0).
