Wish for Christmas - Believe in Christmas (Original title: Wish for Christmas ) is an American Christmas film by John KD Graham .

action

Anna MacLaren is annoyed by her parents' Christian faith. They constantly complain about her, both in terms of her choice of clothes and her cell phone consumption. When the winter ball of her high school is finally put on December 24th and her parents want to forbid her to go there, she expresses a devastating wish: her parents should no longer be Christian.

The next morning, her parents turn into atheists. What looks good for Anna after initial advantages, especially financial ones, quickly turns into a disaster. Luke and Elizabeth MacLaren are transforming themselves from socially committed lawyers to radical capitalists. So, paralegal Rebekah loses her job. When her boyfriend Colton and his father finally lose their house, Anna finally realizes her mistake.

Together with the homeless Santa Claus impersonator, who is only jokingly called "Santa" by everyone, and her uncle and pastor Paul, she finds herself believing. At the winter ball, she gives a fiery speech that finally drives her parents back to church, where everyone celebrates Christmas mass.

background

Wish for Christmas is a joint production of the two Christian production companies Mustard Seed Entertainment and PureFlix. After Catching Faith (2015) it is the second production of Mustard Seed.

The film was shot from December 1st to 19th, 2015 in the small towns of Georgetown , Amesbury and Topsfield in the US state of Massachusetts .

The film had its DVD premiere in Canada and the United States on November 1, 2016. In Germany, the film was released on DVD on November 17, 2017.

reception

Clearly aimed at a Christian audience, in the opinion of Box Office Revolution, the film hardly lives up to these claims. Although it has potential, the film is not particularly demanding in terms of production technology or acting. Richard Smith reviewed the film on The Christian Film Review much more benevolently and particularly praised the performance of Anna Fricks. The Movie Scene, on the other hand, described the rendering as solid but predictable.
