Witjastief 3

The Witjastief 3 (also Witjastiefe 3 , Vityaz depth (e) 3 , Vitias depth (e) 3 or Vitiaz depth (s) 3 is referred to) is a marine deep in the northwest part of the Pacific Ocean (Pacific) and 10,542 m sea depth the deepest point of the Kuril Trench . It was named after the Soviet research ship Vitjas .

Geographical location

The Witjastief 3 is located in the northwestern Pacific Ocean just east of the Kuril Islands of Kurilengrabens in the southern part and about 200 km south-east of Iturup , one of the southern islands of the Kuril Islands. It is about 44 ° north latitude and 151 ° east longitude .
