Witold Stachurski (born January 15, 1947 in Chmielnik , Heiligkreuz Voivodeship , † May 16, 2001 in Kielce , Heiligkreuz Voivodeship) was a Polish boxer.

Career

In 1967 he reached a second place in the light middleweight division at the police championships in Hungary, the European championships in Italy (victories against Imre Nagy from Hungary, Rainer Salzburger from Austria and Vojtěch Stantien from the Czech Republic, without a fight in the final) and the pre-Olympic test tournament in Mexico (defeat in the final against Rolando Garbey ). At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City , however, he lost just 3-2 in the first fight against Ion Covaci from Romania.

In 1969 he won the TSC tournament in Berlin with a win against Rolando Garbey . 1970 tournament victories at the Dutch Tulips tournament in the Netherlands (including a win against Alan Minter ) and the police championships in Romania. At the European Championships in Spain in 1971, he lost in the quarterfinals to Juozas Juocevičius just 2: 3 and reached 5th place.

In 1972 he won gold at the Dutch Tulips and Gryf Szczeciński tournaments and then started at the 1972 Summer Olympics , where he was eliminated in 5th place after losing to Reima Virtanen in the quarter- finals. In 1973 he still took part in the European Championships in Serbia, defeated Dragomir Vujković from Yugoslavia and Poul Knudsen from Denmark in the middleweight division and only lost in the semifinals against Vyacheslav Lemeschew , with which he won bronze.

In addition, he became Polish middleweight champions in 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.
