Wittchenstein is a district of the Geroda community in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

geography

The federal autobahn 9 leads west in and past the local area. The village is connected to the federal highway 281 by a local road , which also has a connection to the entrance and exit to the federal highway . The terrain is cropped in the corridor of the place and surrounded by forest. The district belongs geologically to the Saale-Elster-Buntsandsteinplatte .

history

The first documentary mention of the place took place in 1378. The Lerchenmühle existed until 1904 as a grinding and cutting mill and was demolished that year.
