Vladimir Georgievitsch Bechteev (German: Wladimir Georgievitsch (von) Bechtejeff) (Владимир Георгиевич Бехтеев) (born April 15, 1878 in Moscow ; † June 21, 1971 ibid) was a Russian painter .

Life

Von Bechtejeff was an officer and came from “ Tambow , which is only famous for its stallions ”. After attending military school, where he graduated as a lieutenant, von Bechtejeff studied painting at the Moscow Academy of Arts and continued his studies in Munich with Heinrich Knirr between 1902 and 1904 . From 1906 to 1909 he studied with Fernand Cormon in Paris .

In 1909 he became a member of the Neue Künstlervereinigung München and participated in their exhibitions until 1911. He was not represented in the two exhibitions of the editorial staff of the Blue Rider . In 1910/1911 he took part in the Moscow exhibition of the artist group Karo-Bube . In the First German Autumn Salon in Berlin in 1913 he was represented with four pictures. Shortly before the outbreak of World War I , he was involved in a theater project by Hugo Ball , which, like the continuation of the activities of the “Blue Rider”, came to nothing. In 1914 he returned to Russia and was drafted into the army and worked after the war as a monument protection officer, set designer and illustrator.

His most famous works, which in contrast to Wassily Kandinsky always contained figurative references, were very much influenced by Alexej Jawlensky in terms of their color . An example of this is the 65 × 85 cm painting Reptiles, painted in 1911 .
