Vladimir Borissovich Bechterew ( Russian Владимир Борисович Бехтерев ; born April 22, 1973 in Izhevsk ) is a former Kyrgyz biathlete . He started for the Russian association until 2002.

Career

Born Russian Vladimir Bechterew was for Russia up to and including 2002, in 2003 in the last year of his career as an active player for Kyrgyzstan . He started biathlon in 1983 and started for the Khanty-Mansiysk sports club . In 1999 he made his debut in the biathlon world cup in an individual in Hochfilzen as 48th . The first and only time he scored points in an individual World Cup race was in 2000 at the pursuers in Antholz , when he moved up from 50th place after the sprint to 22nd place. In the same season he also played his last individual at the World Cup in Lahti (83rd place), and in 2002 in the relay race in Antholz was his last World Cup appearance for Russia. He finished seventh as a starting runner together with Nikolai Kruglow , Sergei Konovalov and Michail Kotschkin . In 2003 he contested three races at the Biathlon World Championships for Kyrgyzstan , he was 40th in the individual, 49th in the sprint and achieved his best result with 38th place in the pursuit. His only podium in an international competition - apart from summer biathlon - he achieved at the European Championships in 2000 , when he came in third with the Russian relay (Bechterew, Kotschkin, Batmanow , Muslimow ). He was once junior world champion, twice Russian champion and was awarded the title "International Master of Sports". Bechterew is married and the family has one child. During his active time he was a member of the army.
