Vladimir Mikhailovich Sobolew ( Russian Владимир Михайлович Соболев ; born October 1, 1924 in Kainsk , Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic ; † June 23, 2010 in Moscow ) was a Soviet ambassador .

biography

Between 1942 and 1945 he served as a soldier in the Red Army on the 1st Belarusian Front .

After the end of the Second World War in 1945 he became a full-time functionary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in Novosibirsk Oblast. First he was 1st secretary of the Komsomol youth organization in the city of Barabinsk and then, after attending the Komsomol University, 1st secretary of the Komsomol in Novosibirsk Oblast from 1950 to 1958. After the completion of the CPSU party university he became 1st secretary of the 1958 CPSU in the city of Iskitim and from 1960 to 1960 secretary of the CPSU in Novosibirsk Oblast.

After graduating from the diplomatic school of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( Высшую дипломатическую школу МИД СССР ) he entered the diplomatic service in 1964 and was after a position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 1965 and 1968 first counselor and then until 1969 ambassador in Algeria . He then worked again in the Foreign Ministry and between 1969 and 1971 deputy head of the department for Africa .

From 1971 to 1975 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR in Belgium .

After a use as Deputy Head of the Department of Scandinavia at the State Department, he was most recently from 1979 until his transfer to the retired 1988 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR in Finland .

He has received several awards for his services, including the Order of the Great Patriotic War , twice the Order of the Red Banner of Labor , the Order of the Red Banner , the Order of Friendship of Peoples and the Badge of Honor of the Soviet Union . In addition, he was awarded the Order of the Lion of Finland .
