Wladyslaw Piskunow

Wladyslav Piskunov ( Ukrainian Владислав Піскунов , English transcription Vladyslav Piskunov ; born June 7, 1978 in Nowa Kachowka ) is a former Ukrainian hammer thrower .

He became Junior World Champion in 1994, but lost his title through subsequent disqualification for doping . Towards the end of the 1990s, he appeared again internationally. At the European Championships in Budapest in 1998 he finished tenth, at the Universiade 1999 he was third.

The most important success of his career he achieved at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville. There he won the bronze medal behind Karsten Kobs and Zsolt Németh . As a result, Piskunow showed fluctuating performance. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 and at the World Athletics Championships in 2001 in Edmonton, he was eliminated from the qualification. In contrast, he won the silver medal at the Universiade 2001 and the 2002 European Championships in Munich. At the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he failed again in qualifying.

After he was convicted of doping for the second time in his career during a control during the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he was suspended from competition for life.

Wladyslaw Piskunow is 1.83 m tall and weighed 106 kg at competition times.
