The housing company of the city of Fürth mbH is a real estate company based in Fürth , in which the city of Fürth holds 67.1% and the Sparkasse Fürth as the second partner holds the rest of the shares and which has a portfolio of more than 1,700 own apartments (status 2017).

The WBG Fürth dismissed in 2016 a total assets up from 68.7 million €, the share capital amounted on 31 December 2015 to € 4,289,000. The range of services offered by the municipal housing company includes rental, building management, renovation and modernization, property development and external administration. From 1976 to 2013, the WBG administration was located at Komotauer Straße 30 before moving to new business premises in Siemensstraße, which is also in the Hardhöhe district .
history
After it was founded in 1957 on the basis of a city council resolution, the activities of the WBG Fürth were primarily characterized by the development of the western districts of Hardhöhe , Schwand, Eigenes Heim and Oberfürberg , which were separated from the old town of Fürth by the Rednitz , where in the 1960s the tallest residential high-rises in Fürth with 13 to 15 storeys were built. In the second half of the 1970s, public funding for new buildings was discontinued in order to mobilize more funds for the renovation of the old town of Fürth . In the 1980s, the WBG limited itself to the management of existing properties; new building activity was only resumed in the western suburbs in the 1990s, with less intensity.
In 1996 the federal government bought the Kalbsiedlung in the southern part of Fürth after the William O. Darby barracks had been closed by the US armed forces at the end of 1995 . Due to the use of PAH -containing adhesives in the parquet floors and the pesticide residues found in the wall paint and built-in cupboards due to the regular disinfestation of the residential complex , the 1288 apartments renovated here soon become the subject of costly renovation measures and legal disputes that continue to this day.
