Wojciech Tajner (born June 24, 1980 in Zebrzydowice ) is a former Polish ski jumper .
Career
Tajner, who started for the club KS Wisła Ustronianka , contested his first international jumping at the World Cup on January 27, 2002 in team jumping together with Krystian Długopolski , Grzegorz Śliwka and Marcin Bachleda . The team finished 10th on the large hill in Sapporo. However, it would be his last World Cup appearance for almost three years. From 2002 Tajner jumped in the Continental Cup , but was able to achieve points but no top 10 positions. At the end of 2003 he again made it into the national team. On December 29, 2003, he competed in jumping on the large hill in Oberstdorf as part of the Four Hills Tournament 2003/04 . With 36th place, however, he failed in the first round. On January 10, 2004 he was able to win his first World Cup points in jumping in Liberec with 24th place. To date, the 24th place is his best individual placement in the World Cup. After three more World Cup competitions, of which he could only win points in one competition in Zakopane , he was transferred back to the Continental Cup and has since been jumping in the national team for Poland there. On August 1, 2004, he was able to achieve 3rd place with the team in the team competition as part of the Summer Grand Prix 2004 in Hinterzarten and was thus on the podium for the first time in a professional competition. Previously he had only managed to do this with a 2nd place in an FIS race in Zakopane.
The 2003/04 Continental Cup season was the most successful season for Tajner. At the end of the season he was 55th in the overall cup standings with 100 points. In the previous season he was only 96. However, he could no longer build on the success of the 2003/04 season and ended up only beyond 100th place in the overall standings in the following seasons. In 2007 he ended his active ski jumping career.
At the Veterans World Championships in Szczyrk in 2018 , Tajner won the gold medal on both the Skalite normal hill and the medium hill in the 35-39 age group. He is now working as an assistant coach for the Polish junior team.
Wojciech Tajner is the cousin of Tomisław Tajner , who is also a ski jumper. His father Apoloniusz Tajner , Wojciech's uncle, was the coach of the Polish national team for a long time.
