Wolf-Dieter Hütteroth

Wolf-Dieter Hütteroth (born November 28, 1930 in Koenigsberg in the Neumark ; † November 9, 2010 ) was a German geographer and university professor .

Life

Hütteroth studied at the Philipps University of Marburg and in 1953 became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Marburg . With a doctoral thesis with Willi Czajka he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . In 1966 he completed his habilitation at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . From 1967 he was scientific advisor and lecturer at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen . From 1969 he was full professor at the University of Cologne . In 1972 he returned to Erlangen as a professor. He mainly dealt with general historical geography, geography of the Islamic Orient and geomorphological processes. He was a proven expert on Turkey and the Kurds . In 1996 he retired . In February 2009, the Marburg Department of Geography awarded him the golden doctoral certificate.
