Wolf-Dieter Haardt

Wolf-Dieter Haardt (* 1945 in Bad Harzburg ) is a German Protestant pastor i. R. of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover . He and his wife have two daughters.

Life and work

Having grown up in Bad Harzburg in the Harz Mountains , Haardt developed the desire to become a pastor at the age of 12, initiated by a stay at a Christian youth camp in England . After graduating from Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium in 1964, he studied Protestant theology in Bethel , Heidelberg and Göttingen .

1973 Haardt took up his first own pastor's position in Moringen . In 1989 he moved to the parishes of Elvershausen and Berka . After the congregations merged with the neighboring congregation of Hammenstedt to form the “Michaelis” congregation, Haardt retired in 2010. During his time there, he also took on the duties of church district youth pastor, was emergency pastor and deputy superintendent in the former church district of Northeim .

During his time in Moringen, Haardt was heavily involved in coming to terms with the history of the local concentration camp . “He was a driving force in dealing with the concentration camp issue, which met strong resistance. It is thanks to him that the children who perished in the Moring youth concentration camp, who were buried all over the cemetery by the Nazi regime in night and fog operations, were reburied and thus found a dignified final resting place. ”He was instrumental in the Involved in setting up the Moringen Concentration Camp Memorial. In 1994 the sponsoring association of the memorial was awarded a DM 5,000 prize from the Paul Dierichs Foundation in recognition of its work.
