Wolffgang Wesener

Wolffgang Wesener (* 1494 in Mittweida , Saxony ; † July 24, 1557 in Halle an der Saale ) was mayor in Halle.

Life

Wolffgang Wesener studied at the University of Leipzig and graduated from the liberal arts with a baccalauréat in 1513 . He entered the service of the Prince Archbishop of Magdeburg . In 1516 he acquired the citizenship of Halle. Through his marriage to Clara von Quetz, the daughter of a Haller Pfänner , he got into the class of notables. He held a number of honorary offices, was quadrilateral in the Senate, a member of the Church College of St. Moritz and the College of Pfänner. In 1530 he became mayor of the Archbishop of Magdeburg, Cardinal Albrecht of Brandenburg . For the first time, this office was not granted as a man's feud , but against revocation at any time, over which a dispute arose between the Archbishop and the Elector Johann Friedrich von Sachsen .

The marriage had ten children. Wolffgang Wesener is the progenitor of the Wesener clan .
