Wolfgang Bechtle

Wolfgang Bechtle (born March 14, 1920 in Stuttgart ; † July 24, 1983 in Erpfingen ) was a German writer and nature photographer . In the 1970s, Bechtle was editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine KOSMOS , which was published by Franckh-Kosmos at the time, and co-founder of the monthly magazine AQUARIEN-MAGAZIN, which is now part of the specialist magazine DATZ .

Bechtle wrote, partly together with other authors such as Horst Stern , numerous books that deal with the keeping, rearing and behavior of different animal species. The illustrations were often based on his own photographs.

His report on the goose Gingang , which he acquired on the fourth day of her life at Lake Neusiedl and made a name for himself , became famous . In doing so, he benefited from the findings of Konrad Lorenz . He often linked his reports on experiences with animals with travel writing.

His father was the journalist, translator and author of children's books, Wolfgang Walter Bechtle (see Wolf Durian ) and his half-sister was Sibylle Bechtle-Bechtinger (see Sibylle Durian ).
