Wolfgang Bell

Wolfgang Bell (* 20th January 1937 in Cologne , † 21st December 2012 ) was a German politician of the SPD . Between 1987 and 1995 he was the senior district director of what is now the Rhein-Erft district , where he was also the first full-time district administrator after the reform of local law .

Education, occupation and political activity

Bell studied at the University of Cologne Law and completed his training in 1967 with the second state examination from. Then the fully qualified lawyer Wolfgang Bell started his career as a main administrative officer in Bergheim after brief episodes at an insurance company and in the Euskirchen district . From 1969 to 1975 he was first alderman there. In 1975 he became city director in the newly founded city of Kerpen . After completing his political work at the Erftkreis, he worked as a lawyer . He returned his license to practice as a lawyer at the end of 2005 for health reasons.

Management functions in the Erftkreis

In 1987, Bell succeeded the first senior district director, Helmuth Bentz, of the Erftkreis. After the reform of local law in North Rhine-Westphalia, he was elected the first full-time district administrator by the district council against his party comrade and previous honorary district administrator Klaus Lennartz in March 1995 with the support of the CDU parliamentary group; He was also the first full-time district administrator in North Rhine-Westphalia . He headed the Erftkreis until the next local election in 1999. His successor, elected by the people according to the new electoral rules , was Werner Stump , with whom he had already formed a successful team of city director and mayor in Kerpen .

Wolfgang Bell lived in Bergheim and had two grown children. His hobby was hunting .
