Wolfgang David (born August 29, 1948 in Oberseifersdorf , Zittau district ) is a German writer .

Life

Wolfgang David was born the son of the writer Kurt David . After graduating from high school and doing an apprenticeship as a typesetter , he studied cultural studies and sociology . He completed research studies at the Central Institute for Youth Research in Leipzig with a doctorate . He taught at the Humboldt University in Berlin , the University of Bratislava and the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and was, in the meantime, director of the Otto Lilienthal Museum in Anklam .

David has been a freelance writer with interruptions since 1983 and publishes novels and cultural journalism . He is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS) and the Exil-PEN. From 1991 to 2004 he was regional chairman of the VS and from 1995 to 2003 deputy chairman of the Saxon Literature Council. Since 1991 he has published non-fiction and event reviews in the press as well as texts in anthologies and magazines.
