Wolfgang Decker (born September 22, 1955 in Kassel ) is a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Wolfgang Decker completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at AEG in Kassel after completing his advanced technical college entrance qualification for business and administration .

Between 1980 and 1990 he worked in various functions at the Kassel regional council . From 1990 to 1994 Decker was the administrative manager of the State Agency for Private Broadcasting in Hesse and from 1994 to 1998 as head of the development staff of the Federal Labor Court in Erfurt . From 1998 to 2008 he worked at the State Welfare Association of Hesse , initially as a personal assistant to the state director, and since 2005 head of the HR and Organization service area.

Wolfgang Decker has been a member of the SPD since 1976, where he is deputy chairman of the SPD Kassel and chairman of the Wolfsanger / Hasenhecke local association.

In terms of local politics, he was on the Wolfsanger / Hasenhecke local advisory board from 1993 to 1997 , as an honorary city council member of the city council of Kassel from 1997 to 2006 and as a city councilor since 2006.

In the state elections in Hesse in 2008 , Decker was elected directly to the Hessian state parliament as a constituency member in the Kassel-Stadt II constituency with a result of 46.7% of the first votes. In 2009 he was re-elected directly to the state parliament with 38.3% of the first votes. Wolfgang Decker has been the chairman of the budget committee of the Hessian state parliament since 2009. He is also a member of the Social Policy Committee and the Sub-Committee for Financial Controlling and Administrative Control. Wolfgang Decker has been labor market policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and spokesperson for disability policy since 2009.
