Wolfgang Frindte

Wolfgang Frindte (born August 17, 1951 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia ) is a German psychologist and communication scientist as well as professor of communication psychology at the Institute for Communication Science at the University of Jena .

Life

In 1970, Frindte completed an apprenticeship as an electrician and a short time later obtained his Abitur. He then began studying psychology at the FSU Jena, which was followed by a successful diploma in 1974. In 1981 he did his doctorate on the subject of: Investigations into the game-experimental modeling of negotiation situations with the degree magna cum laude under Hans Hiebsch . He then worked at the Erfurt University of Education as a senior scientific assistant . In 1987 he completed his habilitation on theory and experiment in social psychology. Six months later, in 1987, he was appointed professor of social psychology at the FSU Jena. In 1991 there was a six-month study and teaching stay in the USA and from winter 1998 to summer 2004 a visiting professorship or teaching assignment at the University of Innsbruck . Frindte has had a full C2 professorship since 1994, initially as a substitute for the Chair of Social Psychology and then headed the Communication Psychology department in Jena from 1997 . Since 2008 this department has been one of four departments of the Institute for Communication Studies at the University of Jena. He retired in 2017, but continues to work on projects at the institute.

His main research areas include anti-Semitism, the reception of computer games and the media construction of terrorism. In 2011 he headed a team that carried out a study on the living environment of young Muslims in Germany for the Federal Ministry of the Interior .
