Wolfgang Gerstner

Wolfgang Gerstner (born April 21, 1955 in Lörrach ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From June 2006 to June 2014 he was the Lord Mayor of Baden-Baden .

Life

After his military service in Achern , Wolfgang Gerstner studied law in Freiburg . Further positions took him to the tax offices in Baden-Baden and Lörrach , as well as to the Ministry of Finance of the State of Baden-Württemberg, before he was government director and personal assistant to the State Secretary. From 1992 to 2006 Gerstner was mayor of Sigmaringen . During his tenure in Sigmaringen he was chairman of the Association of Friends and Supporters of the University of Applied Sciences Sigmaringen eV from 1995 to 1998 and, after its merger on November 4, 1998 with the association for the University of Applied Sciences Albstadt-Sigmaringen eV until 2004, of the newly founded Association of Friends and sponsor of the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences. In his role as Lord Mayor of Baden-Baden, Gerstner is chairman of the supervisory board of Klinikum Mittelbaden gGmbH .

On March 12, 2006, he was elected Lord Mayor of Baden-Baden with 63.5% of the votes and took office on June 10.

On April 22, 2013, he announced that after 22 years of municipal responsibility, he would not run for a second term in the 2014 mayoral election.

Private

Gerstner is married and has five sons.
