Wolfgang Haunsberger

Wolfgang Haunsberger (born October 31, 1940 in Salzburg ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and master carpenter. From 1974 to 1994 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1994 to 2001 chairman of the General Accident Insurance Fund (AUVA).

education and profession

Between 1946 and 1955, Haunsberger attended elementary and secondary school in his native Salzburg, and from 1955 completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter as well as the vocational school. In 1958 he completed his apprenticeship as a carpenter. He then moved to the Austrian Armed Forces and did his military service. He also worked as a sergeant in the armed forces until 1963. Haunsberger returned to the profession he had learned in 1963 and passed the master carpenter exam in 1967. In 1968 he started his own business as a master carpenter in Elsbethen , where he worked as a master carpenter until 2001.

Politics and functions

Haunsberger joined the Austrian People's Party and was also involved in the ÖVP sub-organization, the Austrian Economic Association . Between 1976 and 1992 he was the district chairman of the Austrian Economic Association in Flachgau and between 1981 and 1988 he was the chairman of the trade section of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce , in 1988 he was the curator of the Economic Development Institute (WIFI) and from 1988 to 1994 he was regional chairman of the social insurance institute for the commercial economy. In addition, between 1994 and 2001 he was chairman of the General Accident Insurance Fund (AUVA). Haunsberger was also involved in local politics and was a member of the Elsbethen municipal council from 1974 to 1984. He ran for the state election in 1974 and was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament on May 22, 1974. Haunsberger was a member of the state parliament for 20 years and left the state parliament on May 1, 1994.
