Wolfgang Kaunzner

Wolfgang Kaunzner (born July 26, 1928 in Saaz , Czechoslovakia , † March 10, 2017 in Regensburg ) was a German mathematician.

Life

Kaunzner received his doctorate in 1954 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich under Kurt Vogel ( The arithmetic book of Johann Widmann von Eger. Its sources and its effects ). From 1957 to 1960 he was a laboratory engineer at Siemens and then a professor at the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences , where he taught mathematics, among other things, and retired in 1990.

He dealt in particular with early German algebra books (Coss) and arithmetic books as well as early modern mathematical manuscripts, among others by Christoph Rudolff , Adam Riese , Heinrich Schreiber , Johannes Widmann , and on the mathematical writings of Johannes Kepler .

He was a member of the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts and a corresponding member of the Académie internationale d'histoire des sciences .
