Wolfgang Nadvornik (born January 19, 1970 in Altötting ) is a German sports journalist and television presenter . He became known through the moderation of the show Blickpunkt Sport in the television program of the Bavarian radio . From 2002 to February 2011 he was a member of the team of moderators at ARD - Sportschau . For the first German television he was present at four Olympic Games and more than ten world championships.

Career

Nadvornik grew up in Waldkraiburg . After attending the primary school there, he attended the humanistic grammar school in Gars am Inn up to the 10th grade. After a year abroad in the USA, he returned and graduated from high school in 1992 at the Ruperti-Gymnasium in Mühldorf. After working for a year as a tennis instructor, he worked for the local radio and television broadcaster Radio Inn-Salzach-Welle in Burgkirchen an der Alz and ISA-TV in Altötting, where he also volunteered. There he first drew attention to himself as a presenter of youth programs.

In 1995 he started studying at the Bavarian Academy for Television (BAF) and at the same time began to work as a freelancer in the sports department of Bayerischer Rundfunk. As early as 1996 Nadvornik was part of the permanent team of moderators at Bayerischer Rundfunk and presented its sports programs.

Nadvornik had his first national television appearance in 1998 in the ARD-Mittagsmagazin , where he regularly moderated the sports block until 2011. From 2001 he was also seen in this function in the Tagesschau and in the Tagesthemen . In the same year he became one of the presenters of Blickpunkt Sport , the weekly cult sports program on Bavarian television.

In 2002 he moved up to the moderation team of the ARD-Sportschau and looked after alpine and Nordic winter sports and athletics. At the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City 2002, Athens 2004, Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010 Nadvornik was one of the ARD presenters. In Athens and Turin he also presented the Paralympics as the main moderator. Nadvornik was Vice President of Special Olympics Bavaria for many years.

At the Soccer World Cup 2010 in South Africa, Nadvornik was the moderator in the German quarter in Johannesburg. After the Alpine World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011, which he hosted for ARD, his commitment to Bayerischer Rundfunk ended. Nadvornik then worked as a filmmaker and presenter of the Golftotal program , which is broadcast on Sport1 , and as a filmmaker for ServusTV . He has been working as a freelance presenter, commentator, reporter and filmmaker for Eurosport since 2017 .

During the 2017/18 Bundesliga season, Nadvornik hosted the program Der kicker.tv Talk on Eurosport , alternating with Marco Hagemann , and the follow-up show Man against Man alternating with Anna Kraft in the 2018/19 season . Nadvornik has been a permanent member of the team of commentators on tennis broadcasts at Eurosport since the French Open 2018. At the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Nadvornik moderated the alpine ski competitions.

Wolfgang Nadvornik was an active handball player, track and field athlete and tennis player at VfL Waldkraiburg for many years. In addition to his television work, he has been working as a tennis coach at SportScheckAllwetter in Unterföhring since 2014. Nadvornik has a German, Spanish and American tennis coach license and was able to earn world ranking points in doubles.

Wolfgang Nadvornik is married to Miruna for the second time and has three children.
