Wolfgang Pauritsch (born February 13, 1972 in Innsbruck , Austria ) is an Austrian art and antiques dealer and auctioneer . Through his appearances as a dealer in the series Bares for Rares , he gained fame in German-speaking countries.

Life

Wolfgang Pauritsch lived in Innsbruck up to elementary school age. His father left the family, and his mother's changing seasonal jobs in tourism meant that the boy grew up with his grandparents in southern Styria . Pauritsch has been working in Germany since he was twenty. Before his career in the arts and crafts, he was a member of the Austrian armed forces and worked as a chauffeur, locksmith, plumber, night watchman, dog handler, detective and security guard. In an auction house in Munich , which he was originally appointed to guard, he took over the management of an auction after the actual auctioneer fell ill. The manager of the auction house was enthusiastic and committed Pauritsch. Pauritsch completed a distance learning course in art history and trained as an expert for gemstones. Since 1996 he has been running Antony's Art & Auction House in Oberstaufen in the Allgäu together with the diamond appraiser Andrea Häring-Horn, who also completed a distance learning course in art history . In 2007 he was sworn in as a publicly appointed auctioneer . He is a member of the Federal Association of German Auctioneers. Pauritsch has been married since 2010.

In the ZDF series Bares for Rares he can be seen as a dealer since the first season of 2013. He was noticed by a ZDF employee at an auction led by Pauritsch in Freiburg in spring 2013. A few days later he received a call from an employee of the production company Eyeworks , who offered Pauritsch to participate in the show. At his appearances in the dealer room, the middle of the five places on the dealer podium is traditionally reserved for Wolfgang Pauritsch. Pauritsch has also appeared in the Bares series for Rares Austria since 2019 . In July 2017 he was a guest on the talk show Markus Lanz , in September 2018 in Menschen (SWR1) , in June 2019 on SAT.1 breakfast television , in July 2019 in the web talk show by Nico Gutjahr and in June 2020 in the MDR talk show Riverboat .
