Wolfgang Penzler

Wolfgang Penzler (born July 1943 in Marburg ) is a former boxer and politician ( animal protection party ).

Professional background

In the Bundeswehr, Penzler was a sergeant in the reserve. In addition, after his career as a boxer, he trained as a nurse, masseur and medical lifeguard. Until he retired, he worked as a sports physiotherapist in a fitness studio.

Boxing career

Penzler's boxer career began in 1957 and lasted a total of 24 years; During this time he completed around 300 fights and earned the nickname "Fly from the Lahn". In the course of his boxing career he was German runner-up in 1969 and 1973 and finally German flyweight champion in 1975, 16-time Hessen champion and national relay boxer. At times he was part of the German Olympic selection. 1973 Penzler lost in the German-Polish international match in Münster against Leszek Błażyński , who emerged victorious after being canceled. Penzler is also the holder of the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Boxing Association.

Political commitment

Penzler is a member of the animal welfare party and temporarily deputy chairman of the Hessian state. He was then an assessor there until 2013. In the Hessian state elections in 2008 , he ran for third place on the party's list. In addition, he entered the constituency of Marburg-Biedenkopf II . There he achieved a constituency vote result of 555 votes, which corresponds to 0.9%. In the 2009 Bundestag election , he ran for second place on the Hessian state list. He is also a member of PETA . In this context he fights against slaughter and turned to the then Hessian Minister of Justice Jörg-Uwe Hahn .
