Wolfgang Plath

Wolfgang Plath (born December 27, 1930 in Riga ; † March 19, 1995 in Augsburg ) was a musicologist and Mozart researcher.

Live and act

Wolfgang Plath studied musicology with Walter Gerstenberg, first at the Free University of Berlin , then at the University of Tübingen . In 1958 he received his doctorate there with a thesis on Bach'sLittle Piano Book for Wilhelm Friedemann Bach ”.

In 1959, Plath moved to Augsburg as assistant to Ernst Fritz Schmid and, together with Wolfgang Rehm, became the editor of the New Mozart Edition . He also worked several times as an honorary professor in Augsburg and Salzburg .
