Life

After many years as a Waldorf teacher at the Goetheschule in Pforzheim , Wolfgang Schad became a lecturer at the seminar for Waldorf education in Stuttgart in 1975 . In addition, he was an employee of the educational research center of the Federation of Free Waldorf Schools in Stuttgart, which he temporarily headed.

In 1992, Schad took over  the specially founded chair for evolutionary biology and morphology at the private university in Witten / Herdecke , although he had not yet obtained a doctorate . He submitted his dissertation later. The founding of the chair was made possible by the patron Karl Ludwig Schweisfurth , after whom the institute was named.

Schad has now retired and Bernd Rosslenbroich has taken over the management of the institute.

In his main work Mammals and Humans (1971), Schad transferred Rudolf Steiner's idea of the “threefold structure of the human organism” in the sense of a comparative morphology to mammals .

From 1982 to 1985, Schad published four anthologies with works by various authors under the title Goethean Natural Science in the (anthroposophical) publishing house Freie Geistesleben . With this he established the term Goetheanism in the context of anthroposophy.

Numerous works by Schad appeared in anthroposophical publications. He wrote only very occasionally for non-anthroposophical organs.
