Wolfgang Schade (born March 30, 1937 ) is a German officer ( retired major general ). From 1991 to 1992 he was head of the planning staff of the Federal Minister of Defense Gerhard Stoltenberg (CDU).

As an army officer, Schade had various assignments in the telecommunications force of the German armed forces . From 1968 to 1970 he completed the 11th general staff course (H) at the command and control academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg. He was then u. a. Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff at the Center for Inner Leadership in Koblenz and Deputy Head of the Staff Department “Inner Leadership, Personnel, Training” in the Armed Forces Staff (FüS I) in Bonn. In 1991/92 the major general was head of the planning staff of the Federal Minister of Defense Gerhard Stoltenberg (CDU), before that deputy. In 1992/93 Schade was Chief of Staff in the Army Office in Cologne. He then became Deputy Chief of Staff in the Policy Division and the Resources Division at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons (Belgium). In 1997 he retired from service.
