Because of his alleged fetish for pink women's lingerie and his height, Schmidt was dubbed a pink giant in the media . Transsexuality

According to his own statement as well as numerous press reports on his transsexuality , Schmidt applied in court to change his first name and to correct the gender assignment under civil status law. The court granted the request for a name change in 2001.

Adaptations

In addition to numerous television documentaries, Schmidt's serial murders were also the subject of a play . Anna Langhoff wrote the play Schmidt Germany - Der Rosa Riese for the Berliner Ensemble on behalf of Heiner Müller . The case served Rosa von Praunheim as a stimulus for a theater workshop with young people in Brandenburg an der Havel . This resulted in his 2008 film Der rosa Riese with Charly Hübner in the title role.
