Wolfgang Settekorn

Wolfgang Settekorn (born March 28, 1945 in Heidelberg ; † October 30, 2015 in Hamburg ) was a German linguist and media scientist . He was a professor at the University of Hamburg .

Life

From 1964 Settekorn studied German and Romance languages in Heidelberg, Friborg (Switzerland) and Mannheim . After the first state examination, he received his doctorate in 1973 with a thesis on the topic of semantic structures of conditional clauses: Linguistic and logical investigations (published 1974).

From 1971 until his appointment to Hamburg, he was a research assistant at the Romance Department of the University of Mannheim . Here his dissertation was written in collaboration with H.-P. Ecker, J. Landwehr and J. Walther published the study Textform Interview: Presentation and Analysis of a Communication Model (Düsseldorf 1977), which also attracted the attention of a wider audience.

In 1977 he was appointed professor of French linguistics at what was then the Romance seminar, which he held until his retirement (2009).

He has been twice appointed visiting professor at the University of Bordeaux Montaigne and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales ( Paris ).
