history

The name Lübbenow appears for the first time in 1301 in the form of the personal name Hermannus de Lubbenow , the village was first mentioned in the Landbuch of the Mark Brandenburg from 1375 as Lybenow . The place name is derived from a Slavic personal name. The village church of Lübbenow was built in the 16th century, and in 1738 a mansion was built for the lords of Lübbenow. In 1817 Lübbenow was in the course of administrative reform to the newly formed district Prenzlau in the administrative district of Potsdam the Prussian province of Brandenburg assigned.

In the census of December 1, 1871, the rural community Lübbenow had five residential buildings and a total of only 33 residents in six families. Of the population, 17 were male and 16 female; five residents were children under ten years of age. The manor district of Lübbenow had an additional 200 residents in 36 households. Of these, 87 were male and 113 were female; 48 residents were younger than ten years. In 1875, the rural communities and Lübbenow Trebenow and Gutsbezirke Fahrenholz, Güterberg, Carolienthal, Lindhorst and Lübbenow joined the District together Lübbenow. In 1895 the rural community of Lübbenow had 35 and the manor district 205 inhabitants. The rural community of Lübbenow was finally dissolved around 1900 and incorporated into the manor district.

On September 30, 1928, the Lübbenow manor district was converted back into a rural community in the course of the dissolution of the Prussian manor districts. After the end of the Second World War , the Lübbenow district was dissolved. The community came into the Soviet occupation zone and was still part of the Prenzlau district. Since 1949 Lübbenow was part of the GDR. During the district reform on July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the Strasburg district in the Neubrandenburg district . After reunification , Lübbenow came to the newly founded state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In 1992, Lübbenow merged with several other municipalities to form the Lübbenow (Uckermark) office , and Lübbenow was the seat of the administrative office.

On July 1, 1992, the municipalities of the Lübbenow office were reclassified from the Strasburg district to the Prenzlau district , which involved a change to the state of Brandenburg . During the district reform in Brandenburg in December 1993, the Prenzlau district merged with the Angermünde and Templin districts in the new Uckermark district . On December 31, 2001, the community Lübbenow was dissolved and merged with the communities of the office Lübbenow to the new community Uckerland . At the same time Lübbenow became the administrative seat of the new municipality.
