Wolfgang Spindler (lawyer)

Wolfgang Spindler (born March 30, 1946 in Göttingen ) is a former judge and president of the Federal Fiscal Court .

Life

Spindler initially worked in the North Rhine-Westphalian financial administration and became a judge at the Düsseldorf tax court in 1978 . From 1979 to 1982 he was also a research assistant at the Federal Constitutional Court and from 1987 to 1998 he held important functions in the German Judges Association .

In 1991 he moved to the Federal Fiscal Court, where in 2000 he became Vice President and Chairman of the IX. Senate, which is mainly concerned with income tax proceedings. On June 1, 2005, he replaced the previous, retired President Iris Ebling . Until March 31, 2011 he was President of the Federal Fiscal Court. On his departure he was honored with a commemorative publication "Tax Law in the Rule of Law" written by numerous tax and constitutional law experts.

In 2004 the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena awarded him an honorary doctorate.

From 1 July 2011 to 31 December 2015 Wolfgang Spindler held the post of Chairman of the Auditor Oversight Commission (AOC), which for the public professional oversight of the Chamber of Auditors is responsible.

Wolfgang Spindler is the brother of Dieter Spindler . He was mayor of the city of Meerbusch from 1999 to 2014 .
