Wolfgang Stürzbecher (* 1962 in Berlin ) is a German animal photographer and social worker.

Life

Wolfgang Stürzbecher is the second of three children of Brigitte Stürzbecher and Manfred Stürzbecher . He has two children from his first marriage and is married to the orthodontist Sandra Ammar. He is also the cousin of the voice actress Ulrike Stürzbecher .

After receiving his diploma in 1984, Stürzbecher worked for several years as a street worker with violent and violent young people in Berlin's problem areas, wrote three non-fiction books about this work and appeared in several television programs (such as on ZDF / ARD Morgenmagazin, the breakfast television of SAT1 and RTL, Einspruch , Schreinemakers , Live from the old opera in Frankfurt , as an expert in the Berliner Abendschau ...), in which he took a view that was untypical for social workers and tried to show the possibilities and limits of educational work with violent young people. At the end of the 1990s, despite numerous party offers, he withdrew from the public in order to start a family. He first worked for the mobile addiction prevention teams of the Berlin Senate Department for Youth and has been probation officer for young people and young adolescents in the Berlin district of Wedding since 2003 . A great passion of Stürzbecher is traveling and photography. Since 2000, many of his animal photos have been published in newspapers and magazines. As a wildlife photographer, he has already traveled to places such as New Zealand (albatrosses), the Falkland Islands (various penguin species (e.g. sh right - gentoo penguins)), Australia (koalas, kangaroos & kingfishers), Indonesia (Komodo dragons & orangutans) , Greece (pelicans), Kenya (cheetahs & hyenas) ... His photos are u. a. can also be seen at exhibitions or on the official website of the Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU).

With the photography Zugschwänzer or (Zu) Frühheimkehrer (see right) he was first the monthly winner and then the annual winner in the instant nature photo competition ! of Germany's nature parks from 2008.
