Wolfgang Storm

Wolfgang Storm (born January 28, 1939 in Friedland , † February 6, 2004 in Weimar ) was a German engineer .

Life

Storm graduated from high school in Jena in 1957. In 1963 he got a university degree as a graduate engineer. From 1963 to 1979 Storm was a research assistant at the HAB Weimar , in 1968 he received his doctorate as Dr. Ing.

From 1979 to 1981 he was a research and development employee at Hennebergporzellan Ilmenau. From 1981 to 1989 Storm 'was a research assistant at the HAB Weimar and from 1989 to 1992 lecturer for the field of "Territorial Energy" at the Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning at the HAB Weimar. During this time he is working on his habilitation.

From 1990 to 1992 Storm was vice dean of the spatial planning faculty . In 1991 he was appointed professor of thermodynamics at the newly founded University of Applied Sciences Erfurt , department of supply technology . 1992 to 1997 he was chairman of the council of the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences. From 1997 to July 1, 2001, Wolfgang Storm was rector of the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences. During his term of office, the foundation and development of the new course Applied Computer Science , the introduction of the Erfurt model in supply technology, the creation of media professorships and the appointment of the first start- up professor took place . Since 2001 he has been the president of the Thuringian Chamber of Engineers. On January 28, 2004 Storm was ceremoniously retired with a scientific colloquium on the occasion of his 65th birthday. Shortly afterwards, Wolfgang Storm died of a heart attack and was buried in the cemetery in Oberweimar .

The Erfurt University of Applied Sciences honored him posthumously for his services by naming a building with his name. The Wolfgang Storm laboratory hall was built in 2005 and gives various departments the opportunity to work on practical projects as part of their training.
