Wolfgang Thieme (* 1941 ) is a German press photographer. For decades he worked for Zentralbild (ZB or ADN-ZB ), the central image agency of the GDR .

The transfer of the archive of the GDR picture agency to the federal archive (Germany) now contains over 931 individual photos of him from 1965 to August 1990. They include photos of GDR and international top athletes, contemporary history and personalities of historical interest. He is the author of picture books for Sportverlag Berlin. His photos were also used for GDR “political art”.

Due to an agreement between the Federal Archives and Wikimedia, numerous photos of him are also used in Wikipedia. He currently works for the German Press Agency (DPA), which Zentralbild has taken over. From there, his photos are included in the (weekly) newspapers with the highest circulation, such as Die Zeit , Stern , Südkurier and Freie Presse (as a large regional newspaper ).
