Tungsten (III) chloride is a black solid that is soluble in warm dimethyl sulfoxide with a deep brown color. It has a trigonal crystal structure with the space group R 3 (space group no. 148) , a = 1491 pm, c = 845 pm. It is a hexameric structure [W 6 Cl 12 ] Cl 6 , where the metal cluster [W 6 Cl 12 ] 6+ is isostructural with the similar clusters of niobium and tantalum . Template: room group / 148
