Wolfram W. Seidel (born February 6, 1967 in Plauen , Saxony) is a German chemist and university professor. He has been Professor of Organometallic Chemistry and Coordination Chemistry at the University of Rostock since 2009 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Seidel studied chemistry from 1987 to 1993, first at the Humboldt University in Berlin and later at the Technical University of Berlin . After graduating as a qualified chemist, he began his dissertation in 1993 at the Free University of Berlin in Ekkehardt Hahn's group with the title Synthesis and coordination chemistry of functionalized dithiolate and chelating poly (dithiolate) ligands. This was followed by a two-year stay as a Feodor Lynen Fellow at the University of British Columbia . In 1999 Seidel moved back to Germany to work in Münster as an academic adviser in Ekkehardt Hahn's group at the University of Münster . There he completed his habilitation in 2007 with a thesis on the opportunities and limits of coordination chemistry with the ligand acetylenedithiolate .

He then accepted an appointment at the University of Rostock , where he has held the chair for organometallic chemistry and coordination chemistry since 2009 .
