Woman in Love is a 1980 pop ballad directed by Barbra Streisand , written and produced by the Bee Gees . She appeared on the album Guilty .

history

After the success of the Bee Gees with the soundtrack for the film Saturday Night Fever , Barbra Streisand asked them if they could write her an album too. The result was the album Guilty . Due to the worldwide success of Woman in Love , not only the song but also the album and some of the follow-up singles were successful. On the American Top 40 radio show , Casey Kasem mentioned that this was the first number one hit in which an interpreter kept a tone unchanged for 10 seconds (" I stumble and fall / But I give you it all "). This surpassed Whitney Houston in 1992 with her cover version of the Dolly Parton classic I Will Always Love You .

The song is about a woman who tries everything to bind her lover to herself. It was first released on August 16, 1980. The pop ballad became a number one hit in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Sweden and Norway.
