Wonderful Days ( Hangul : 원더풀 데이즈 Wonderful Days ) is a South Korean science fiction - animated film from the year 2003 .

action

The film is set in the year 2142. Human pollution has led to a multitude of environmental disasters and has decimated humanity. An elite group of scientists and other intellectuals has built an isolated, high-tech city called Ecoban on an island , which is actually a gigantic organic factory for cleaning the air. In order to exist, Ecoban needs a lot of energy, which it only draws from this cleaning process.

Ecoban's privileged residents are not the only residents of the island. A group of refugees has also settled on the island. They live in a ghetto because they are denied access to Ecoban because of their contamination. The residents of Ecoban treat these Marrians like second class people whose only reason to exist is to toil for them. This becomes clear at the beginning of the film, where a number of Marrians die only because the rescue of an Ecoban technical installation is put above their lives. The Ecobans can behave like feudal lords because they are much better equipped than the Marrians.

In such conditions, it is not surprising that displeasure has spread among the Marrians and a small resistance group has formed ready to offer violent resistance. But that's not the only threat to Ecoban. The much greater danger for Ecoban is Ecoban itself. Natural processes and the metabolism of the organic city Ecoban have cleaned the air to such an extent that this success threatens the very existence of the city, since it depletes the city's energy source.

Over the decades, the leaders of Ecoban have got used to their feudal lordship and have long since forgotten their original mandate to make the earth habitable again. To secure their benefice, plan to contaminate the entire area around Ecoban. They consciously accept that all Marrians will be killed in the process. With such an initial situation, the situation can only escalate.
