Vincenzo Natali (born January 6, 1969 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American - Canadian film and television director .

Life

Vincenzo Natali celebrated his breakthrough in 1997 with his first full-length film, the thriller Cube . The film has been invited to many international festivals and won numerous competitions, including the Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film , the Sitges - Catalonian International Film Fest , the Fantasporto and the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival . It was named Best Canadian First Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival . Natali's other films include the agent thriller Cypher (2002) with Lucy Liu , the fantasy comedy Nothing (2003), the documentary Getting Gilliam (2005), a contribution to the episode film Paris, je t'aime (2006), science fiction -Film Splice - Das Genexperiment (2009) and the horror film Haunter - Beyond Death (2013). With In the high grass (2019) he filmed a horror story of Stephen King and his son Joe Hill for Netflix .

In the Art Department he worked as a storyboard artist on the science fiction film Vernetzt - Johnny Mnemonic (1995) with Keanu Reeves and the horror film Ginger Snaps - The Beast in You (2000). In 1997 Natali was nominated for the Canadian Film Prize, the Genie Award , for the short film Elevated .

Natali has been directing episodes from various television series such as Hannibal and Westworld since 2013 .
