55 Hudson Yards (also known as 1 Hudson Boulevard and One Hudson Yards ) is a skyscraper under construction in New York City .

The project was first presented to the public in spring 2012. The tower is said to be on the so-called Hudson Yards - a district in the very west of Manhattan . The name is derived from the Hudson River , which marks the western edge of Manhattan Island. The street address is 11th Avenue and West 33rd Street . Currently (as of 2015), a huge building complex is to be built here, similar to that of the World Trade Center .

The World Product Center was originally planned at this location , construction of which began in August 2009, but was then closed again in December 2009. After its completion in 2013, the building should have 60 floors and a roof height of 308 m. The building was designed by the architects from Kohn Pedersen Fox . The skyscraper was to be used primarily for offices, but also media rooms and the facade was to be clad exclusively with glass.

55 Hudson Yards is designed as a pure office tower and, according to current plans (as of March 2015), should be 238 meters high and have 51 floors. A special feature is the high energy efficiency of the building, which, according to the developer , should aim for LEED Gold certification. Like the World Product Center, the current tower was designed by KPF. Architecturally, the building is characterized by its characteristic, slightly black shimmering facade, which is reminiscent of a straightening iron.

The project is not expected to be completed before 2018.
