Would I Lie to You? (English for: “Would I lie to you?”) is a British panel show that has been broadcast on BBC One since June 16, 2007 .

format

The focus of the program is on two teams of fellow players who try to play against each other in different games to score points by lying or looking through a lie. They are guided by a moderator. This role was filled in the first two seasons by Angus Deayton, since 2009 it has been played by Rob Brydon. He presents the respective round, calls up the other players and announces the score. In every game, it is always the task of one of the teams to find out whether what is being presented is a lie or the truth. For each correct answer the team receives one point, for each incorrect answer one point goes to the opposing team.

Attendees

The teams each consist of three people, one of whom, the "Team Captain", remains the same in every program: There is always a group under the direction of David Mitchell against Lee Mack's team . All other members are prominent guests, often British comedians such as Jimmy Carr , Robert Webb or Jack Whitehall . But personalities from other professions have already taken part, such as actor Charles Dance or the former mayor of London, Ken Livingstone .

Game rounds

  • Home Truths: A participant reads a statement about themselves from a card. The opposing team must guess whether the statement is true or was made up by an author before the broadcast. Since season 2, the two team captains no longer read aloud themselves.
  • "This is My ...": An additional guest is invited in, who each member of one of the two teams claims to know better. The other team has to guess who this applies to.
  • "Quick-Fire Lies": Works like "Home Truths", but with a time limit.
