Robert Webb (born September 29, 1972 ) is a British comedian , actor and author . With David Mitchell he forms the comedian duo Mitchell and Webb .

Career

While studying at the University of Cambridge , Robert Webb became a member of the renowned student theater club Footlights . There he met David Mitchell. Together they created their first comedy program for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe .

Mitchell and Webb

In 2001, Mitchell and Webb began their first sketch show The Mitchell and Webb Situation , which Play UK broadcasted in six episodes. In 2003, Channel 4 aired the first season of the sitcom Peep Show , which was extremely successful and is now the station's longest running series. In 2010 the eighth and ninth seasons were commissioned.

In 2005, Mitchell and Webb picked up on their sketch show and recorded the first season of the self-written radio series That Mitchell and Webb Sound , which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 from 2005 to 2009 . The series was adapted for television in four seasons as That Mitchell and Webb Look . In 2006 they went on a live tour under the name The Two Faces of Mitchell and Webb .

In 2007 the movie Die Magier - Nothing but Lazy Magic ( Magicians ) was released, in which Mitchell and Webb play a stage wizard duo. That same year they recorded the radio sitcom Daydream Believers , starring Mitchell and Webb.

In 2009 the duo published the book This Mitchell and Webb Book .

Other Projects

In addition to his work in Mitchell and Webb , Webb appeared on various radio and television series on the BBC . In 2006, he played one of the leading roles in the movie Confetti - Heirate vor sich Unexpected , which he later described as bad. In 2008 he appeared alongside Kris Marshall , Joanna Page and Ella Smith in Neil LaBute's play Fat Pig in London's West End . He has also been a guest in various panel shows , including QI and Never Mind the Buzzcocks , and has been team captain on the debate show Argumental since 2011 .

In 2009 Webb won the Let's Dance for Comic Relief benefit competition with his interpretation of the song Flashdance ... What a Feeling .

In 2011 and 2012, Webb starred alongside Katherine Parkinson in the Victorian England comedy series The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff , in which David Mitchell also played a supporting role.

In 2017, Webb published the book How Not to be a Boy , in which he describes and critically discusses male gender stereotypes and toxic masculinity on the basis of autobiographical considerations.

Private life

Robert Webb is married to stand-up comedian Abigail Burdess . They have two daughters and live - like David Mitchell - in Kilburn in north London .
