QI (Quite Interesting) is a British humorous quiz show on the BBC . It first aired on September 11, 2003. The panel show was invented by John Lloyd , who was also the producer of the first five seasons. Stephen Fry was the moderator until 2016 ; from season "N" Sandi Toksvig took over the role of presenter.
concept
Fry and Toksvig's goal is to convey interesting, often surprising facts and to clear up common errors, while the "candidates" are more interested in comic effects. In addition to permanent guest Alan Davies, there are always three other guests, usually British comedians such as David Mitchell , Jimmy Carr , Phill Jupitus , Sandi Toksvig (before she replaced Fry as the presenter) and many more.
The guests get points for correct or interesting answers; Points are deducted if the answer was too obvious. The awarding of points, however, is sometimes quite arbitrary; there were also shows in which the studio audience won.
The seasons are not numbered, but are marked with consecutive letters (A to N for season 2016/17). These provide the first letter for the subject area of the respective program. If there are well-known experts on a particular topic who have also shown a sense of humor, they are occasionally invited as council guests. Examples are the doctor and journalist Ben Goldacre , the physicist Brian Cox and, in the program “Hocus Pocus”, the Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe .
Awards
Stephen Fry won for his role as QI the -Gastgeber 2006 Golden Rose as the best host of a game show . In 2008, QI was named Best Panel Show at the British Comedy Awards . In January 2013, QI won a National Television Award .
