John Lloyd (2013)

John Hardress Wilfred Lloyd , CBE (born September 30, 1951 in Dover ) is a British author , radio and television producer .

Career

Collaboration with Douglas Adams

Lloyd graduated from Cambridge University , where he befriended Douglas Adams . Both later shared an apartment. Together they wrote two episodes of the animated television series Doctor Snuggles , the fifth and sixth episode of the radio play The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , as well as two books, The Meaning of Liff ( The meaning of Labenz ) and The Meaning of Liff . Lloyd and Adams had jointly developed a science fiction film project based on the Guinness Book of Records ; after Adams' death in 2001 it was never realized.

Radio and television producer

Lloyd worked as a producer on BBC radio between 1974 and 1978 and then worked as a television producer for both the BBC and ITV . There he produced the satirical series Spitting Image and Blackadder by and with Rowan Atkinson . He was co-producer of the television adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and has produced the panel show QI (Quite Interesting) with Stephen Fry (until 2016), Sandi Toksvig (from 2016) and Alan Davies since 2003 .
