Wulf-Dietrich Kavasch

Wulf-Dietrich Kavasch (* 1944 in Mönchsdeggingen ) is a German homeland researcher and local politician. Since May 2008 he has been the first mayor of the Hohenaltheim community (Donau-Ries district).

Life

Kavasch was born the son of the headmaster and amateur astronomer Julius Kavasch (1920–1978). He studied veterinary medicine and geology for four semesters and submitted his doctoral thesis at the veterinary faculty of the University of Munich in early 1970. Since January 1, 1969, he has been the official veterinarian of the Donau-Ries district and is responsible for carrying out meat inspections in the district's municipalities.

He has been a member of the local council in his home community of Hohenaltheim since 1972 and was second mayor for many years. In the local elections in 2008 he was elected 1st mayor and six years later was confirmed in office. He did not run for the 2020 local elections and will therefore leave office on April 30, 2020. From 1996 to 2008 he was also a member of the district council of Donau-Ries .

In addition, he developed an extensive activity for the cultural life of the Ries. In 1975 he was a founding member of the Rieser Kulturtage association and was its 1st chairman from 1980 to 2019. He is the initiator of the Rieskrater Museum Nördlingen . He has been chairman of the Nördlingen Animal Welfare Association since 1988.
